HERENGRACHT, NEAR KONINGSPLEIN
2013
The etchings of the Canalbook from Caspar Philips (1771) merge into the current canal facades. De figures that walk around in the Herengracht come from 17th century etchings from Romeyn de Hooghe. Also we see characters from works of Pieter de Mare and Simon Fokke who lived during the 18th century, 19th century painter Cornelis Springer and figures deprived of photographs Jacob Olie took in the 19th century. To conclude the history, Alice also uses current inhabitants from photographs she took on the streets of Amsterdam herself.
