In the spring of 2026, Alice her first glass art project will be unveiled in Den Helder, "Ontmoeting der Stomen". Commissioned by Woningstichting Den Helder, Alice began in 2022 the design process for five monumental windows for Het Warenhuys, the renovated former V&D building on Beatrixstraat in the center of Den Helder. The five windows are composed of a total of 19 panels, created using the glass fusing technique.

Four windows on the building's tower represent one of the four elements: earth, water, air, and fire. Each element is uniquely connected to the seasons, wind directions, and moon phases. A fifth window, above the residents' entrance, symbolizes the fifth element: ether. Together, the five windows symbolize the ever-changing cycle of nature, as well as nature's connection to life.

Ontmoeting der Stromen (2022 - 2026)

The windows were created in collaboration with Kunstregie. This video gives you an impression of the design and production process of the windows at Kunstregie in 's-Hertogenbosch. An intensive collaboration in which craftspeople and artist complement and strengthen each other.

The glassfused windows combine transparent glass and opaline (non-transparant glass). This way, the appearance of the windows changes with changing light conditions, with daylight from outside during the day and background lighting at night.

Den Helder is a town connected to the sea. Surrounded by water, it stands at the intersection of two seas. By allowing the windows to move with the movement between day and night, they remind us that everything comes and goes, like the low and high tide.
